Well the Christmas season is in full swing at my house. We are on night 2 of Advent and we have the candles lit, my husband is picking out the scripture passages and we're having great discussions! Last night was Day 1 and Steve chose Micah 5:2 where it is prophesied that Jesus would be born in Bethelehem and then we read a condensed version of A Christmas Carol after which Candy blew out the week 1 candle. Tonight was Trim the Tree night and we watched "The Polar Express" after decorating our tree then the kids got to punch out windows in a beautiful paper advent calendar I picked up in Williamsburg Virginia. I wanted something portable this year so we could take it to Walt Disney World. Advent won't stop with all the fun you know!
I have to say Hallmark has advent candles already boxed, 3 purple and 1 pink! And Sirius Music on satellite has a fabulous channel to listen to, on my TV it's channel 866 "Holiday Pops".
Last night my husband started out with tons of doctrine with an emphasis (it felt) on why Mary needed to be a virgin to have Jesus (Jackie, "What's a virgin" Daddy, "A woman who hasn't been with a man"......of all the prophesies in the Old Testament that have been fulfilled about the birth of Jesus, and with us having such a limited number of days to read passages about them, this is something skippable until they are older than 7 & 9 (17 isn't impressed with the word "virgin" anymore LOL!)!!!! But the kids loved it.
Daddy got the lights on the house tonight too, so we are set to continue decorating as the mood strikes but a foundation (tree and house lights) has been set. Now I gotta stop buying for the kids.
